3D-PAWS Training with UCAR, EMI and BDMS - Addis Ababa
RAMP Lab will participate in a regional 3D-PAWS training event in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 10-23 May 2026, alongside UCAR’s COMET Program, the Ethiopian Meteorological Institute (EMI), and the Botswana Department of Meteorological Services (BDMS).
The training will cover the full workflow of 3D-printed automatic weather station deployment: hardware assembly and calibration, sensor configuration, data transmission, and quality control. Participants from multiple African national meteorological services will practice fabricating station components and troubleshooting in field conditions.
For RAMP Lab, the training reinforces the lab’s capacity to serve as a regional hub for 3D-PAWS fabrication and deployment based at the University of Botswana. The lab’s ongoing partnership with UCAR and BDMS positions it to support the expansion of low-cost surface observation infrastructure across Botswana and the wider SADC region.
